Carpenter fined $450,000 over cocaine seizure

The police say 0.2 kilogramme of cocaine was found in his possession.

Portland carpenter 47-year-old Mark Spencer has been fined a total of $450,000 or nine months in prison at hard labour over the seizure of cocaine in the Corporate Area.

Spencer, who pleaded guilty, was fined $150,000 or 3 months' imprisonment for possession of cocaine, and $300,000 or 6 months' imprisonment for dealing in cocaine.

Sentencing was handed down on Friday in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The police report that on April 23, 2021, narcotics cops conducted an operation on Mountain View Avenue in Kingston where a Toyota Succeed motor car Spencer was driving was stopped and searched.

The police say 0.2 kilogramme of cocaine was found in his possession.

He was arrested and charged.
