April 15 mention date set for Trade Winds Citrus oil spill case

An April 15 mention date has been set for the Rio Cobre oil spill case against Trade Winds Citrus Limited.
The date was set in the St Catherine Parish Court today where the court was informed that the case file is now ready.
Trade Winds is charged with breaches of the Wild Life Protection Act following an oil spill on December 11, 2023.
The company owns the Jamaica Beverage Plant from which the oil was emitted.
According the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the incident resulted in a fish kill.
An investigation by NEPA into the matter, had resulted in adverse findings.
Trade Winds was subsequently taken to court by the environment agency for breaches of the Wild Life Protection Act.
