Errol Bascoe resigns as PNP MP candidate for Western St Mary
Errol Bascoe has resigned as the People's National Party's (PNP) provisional candidate for Member of Parliament for Western St Mary in the next general election amid allegations.
Bascoe has described allegations made against him as scurrilous and malicious.
The nature of the allegations was not disclosed.
In his resignation letter dated today to party president Mark Golding, Bascoe said he decided to walk away recognising the impact on the party's reputation and his need to dispute the accusations.
“This decision will also allow me to dedicate my full attention to addressing this matter and clearing my good name,” he said.
“I am innocent of this false accusation, and I am confident that the truth will prevail in due course,” Bascoe added.
He expressed gratitude to the party, its members, and the people of Western St Mary who have supported him throughout his journey.
“I know that, in time, justice will be served and my good name will be preserved.”
