A St James man was found dead inside a bathroom at a school on Sunday afternoon in a suspected case of suicide.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Andre Nicholson, a shopkeeper from Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

The police say Nicholson was last seen on the school compound by a security guard at approximately 9:50 p.m. Saturday, before the guard concluded duties.

On Sunday, while doing routine checks, the security guard discovered Nicholson's body and the St James police were alerted.

Nicholson was reportedly found in a female bathroom with a gunshot wound to the head and clutching a Glock 19 pistol.

The police say the weapon recovered from the scene was neither registered to Nicholson nor recognised in the Firearm Licensing Authority's database. A magazine containing 14 live cartridges was also recovered from the scene.

It is being alleged that the deceased man was experiencing financial difficulties and had previously expressed suicidal thoughts.
