Hamilton's death has plunged the school community at Pear Tree Infant and Primary, along with residents, into a state of shock and mourning.

The St Mary police are investigating the murder of a 59-year-old teacher whose body was found with her throat slashed at her home in Post Road, Pear Tree Grove, on Saturday.

The deceased is Angella Hamilton, who was last seen leaving work on Friday afternoon.

Hamilton lived alone.

"Concerns were raised when attempts to contact her on Saturday afternoon went unanswered," said Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the police division.

According to Wallace, a friend of Hamilton visited her residence around 3:05 p.m. and discovered that the door to the living room was open.

Wallace explained that upon entering the house, the friend reportedly found the teacher's body in the dining room.

"We were summoned. She was dressed in a lavender dress, with injuries that included a slashed throat and a stab wound to the chest," he said.

“We want to reassure the public that we are committed to conducting a thorough investigation. Anyone with information that may assist in this case is urged to contact the St. Mary police or the nearest police station," Wallace added.
