Twenty-seven-year-old Lamar Myers, otherwise called ‘Duppy Maker’, has been charged for gunning down a pastor at his stall along West Street in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

Myers has been charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

Pastor Michael Spencer, 41, of Dolphin Terrace, Old Harbour Glades, St. Catherine, was shot and killed on Saturday, January 18.

Reports from the Old Harbour police indicate that around 8:00 p.m., Spencer was at his stall when Myers, a construction worker of Burke Road in Old Harbour, approached him.

Myers allegedly brandished a firearm and opened fire, hitting Spencer in the head and upper body before fleeing on foot.

The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, Spencer was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation was launched into the murder, and Myers was listed as wanted two days later.

He later turned himself in and was charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
