PASTOR TRUDY Tucker was hesitant to follow in her husband’s footsteps when he gave his life to the Lord. Her husband, sensational reggae crooner Junior Tucker, became a Christian over 30 years ago. He is now an ordained pastor who has served for over 20 years in various ministry capacities in churches in the United States, and in Kingston, Jamaica.

Initially, Pastor Trudy Tucker was not convinced that this was the plan that was feasible for their lives. However, after she saw the transformation of her husband within the first few months of his decision to live for Christ, she made the bold step to join him in ministry.

DEEPER LEVEL

“The Lord began to work in his life and that ministered to me. Once I surrendered to Him, I started to support my husband in the ministries that he was doing. I worked with him every step of the way and this cemented my walk with the Lord at an even deeper level,” Pastor Tucker said.

“I did not choose ministry; the Lord placed the need to be a part of His Kingdom in my heart. As a result, everything I do, I follow His guidance. Through His Word, and my deep conviction, we have grown tremendously and continue to do God’s work,” she added.

Pastor Trudy Tucker was born in St Andrew, Jamaica in 1970, and began her journey working as a cashier in her parents’ supermarket at just seven years old. After attending Mona Preparatory and Immaculate Conception High School, she graduated from the College of Arts, Science and Technology (now UTech) with a diploma in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in management.

In 1991, she married Junior Tucker, and, in 1997, the couple embraced Christianity. Three years later, they migrated to the United States, founding the Junior Tucker Ministries. Pastor Trudy Tucker managed the ministry while homeschooling their five children. After their second child, Zoe, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2009, and passed away in 2011, Pastor Trudy Tucker channelled her grief into pursuing a master’s degree in early childhood education, to better understand children’s developmental needs.

In 2014, the couple returned to Jamaica and, a year later, founded Family Word and Worship Church in New Kingston, where Pastor Trudy Tucker was ordained in 2016.

NEXT LEVEL

“I always want to see people grow in their relationship with God. It is not about religion; it is about relationships. We look at where people are in their lives, and what they need to become better; and how to get them to the next level and have the joy of the Lord,” she said.

Pastor Trudy oversees the children’s church, marriage ministry, administration, and finance, and dreams of establishing an early childhood school. She also writes devotionals, aiming to publish her first in 2025, and recently launched her Instagram page, @iamthepreacherswife, to inspire others.

Pastor Trudy Tucker was one of the main presenters at The Woman Ignite Success Summit, an event that aimed to empower women to thrive in various areas of life. The 2025 summit, which took place on Saturday, January 25, was held under the theme ‘THRIVE’.

This was a new experience for her, as she regularly accompanied her husband to events of similar nature and is usually in the background.

“We want women to know and understand that, despite life’s challenges, they are not alone. The enemy wants to keep us in isolation and for us not to believe that we can stay connected with God. He is our Creator and He knows exactly what needs to be done for us to build our faith and accomplish our purpose in life. He said, before we were formed in our mother’s womb, He set a plan and purpose for our lives,” Pastor Trudy Tucker said.
