Amid a protest today, the National Water Commission (NWC) says it is not responsible for the sewage overflow along Waltham Park Road and East Road in St Andrew.

The commission, in a media released, stated that it does not operate a wastewater network in the area and, as such, the ongoing overflow issue does not fall under its purview.

The NWC reiterated its commitment to providing safe and reliable sewerage services while addressing issues within the areas it serves.

Earlier, upset taxi operators and residents mounted roadblocks to protest the poor road conditions and the presence of wastewater along the roadway.

The placard-bearing protesters gathered at the intersection of Waltham Park Road and East Road, demanding immediate action to resolve the issues.

The roadblocks were later cleared by firefighters and the police.
