St Elizabeth resident 'Cuttie' charged with murder of 20-y-o teacher
The St Elizabeth police have charged a 22-year-old man with the murder of 20-year-old teacher, Iyanla Hicks, otherwise called ‘Britney’, of Sunny Heights, Thornton district in the parish on February 7.
The accused is Daniel Francis, otherwise called ‘Cuttie’, also of Sunny Heights.
The Black River police say between 4:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m, one of Hicks' relatives went to visit her and saw Francis who said Hicks was inside a locked bedroom.
The relative reportedly went to the side of the house to get a view from the window and saw Hicks lying in a pool of blood.
The police were alerted and on their arrival Hicks was found on the floor on her back.
The scene was processed and the body removed.
On February 10, the accused was charged after reportedly giving a caution statement admitting to the crime.
His court date is being finalised.
