EDISON, NEW JERSEY: Three former teachers of Cedric Titus High School in Clark’s Town, Trelawny, were honoured for contributing a total of 106 years of service to that institution by the North America Chapter of their past students association.

Sharon Hall and Dorothy Edwards both contributed 38 years each, while Jennilyn Hines contributed 30 years. They were recognised at the Cedric Titus High School Past Students Association’s, 11th Annual Gala, on Saturday, February 15, at Pines Manor, Edison New Jersey.

In paying tribute to the teachers, Balwin Huie, a native of Clark’s Town, residing in Maryland, lauded the educators for their ‘unwavering dedication to education, community development, and service to others’. He also commended them for the hundreds of lives they have helped to shape for individuals, who are now making valuable contributions in various fields of society. “Cedric Titus High School and its students owe you, teachers, a debt of gratitude for your tremendous service,” Huie said.

The association’s president Dr Avril Keldo, in her address at the event, said that the Cedric Titus alumni group had over the past 13 years made numerous contributions to the school, including scholarships, furniture, and various equipment as well as financial assistance to students. Dr Keldo said that this year the association will give back to the community of Clark’s Town, by way of a health fair in June. She remarked how proud the organisation was of its achievements so far and challenged all Cedric Titus past students to become members so that the organisation’s vision can be achieved as alumni continue to support their beloved school.
