TAJ to discontinue accepting personal and company cheques September 1
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is reminding members of the public that it will discontinue the acceptance of personal, business and company cheques, effective September 1.
This means that as of this date, this payment instrument can no longer be used for tax-related transactions, except where a valid cheque is issued by another ministry, department, or public body or where a valid manager’s cheque is issued by a local licensed commercial bank regulated by the Bank of Jamaica.
While non-cheque payments will still be accepted in line, the Tax Authority encourages taxpayers and other stakeholders to utilise the online payment options available.
Online payments can be made via any of these options:
- www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a valid debit or credit card
- Direct Funds Transfer (DFT)
- NCB Online Banking
- Scotia Online Banking and Mobile App
For more information or assistance, call TAJ's Customer Care Centre at (888) TAX –HELP (829-4357) or visit its website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
