Manchester man charged with rape, house-breaking
A 54-year-old mason from Comfort Hall, Manchester, has been charged with rape and house-breaking with intent following an incident in his community earlier this month, the police say.
He is Hal Campbell.
Reports from the Mandeville police, at about 11:15 a.m. on February 7, a woman was at home when Campbell allegedly used a knife to open her bedroom door.
Investigators further allege that he then forced the woman into his room, which was in the same building, and sexually assaulted her.
The woman later reported the incident to the police.
Campbell was subsequently arrested and charged after participating in an interview in the presence of his attorney, the police said.
