WESTERN BUREAU:

The International Women Forum (IWF) Jamaica chapter, moved their activities to western

Jamaica last Sunday, gifting women in the Second City with

the presence of South African Minister of International

Relations and Cooperation,

Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

Dubbed 'Phenomenal Women Luncheon', the event, hosted by renowned businesswoman Paula Kerr-Jarrett at the historic Bellefield Great House, depicted women prepared to drive the

transformation of sustainable development.

In fact, it was a gathering of some of the most powerful women in the country, led by IWF Jamaica president, Minna Israel, president and CEO of Scotiabank Jamaica, Jacqueline Sharp, past president, Pat Ramsay, and Montego Bay's own Jeanne Robinson.

In their midst sat South African High Commissioner to Jamaica, Mathu Joyini and Yolisa Maya, deputy director for the Americas, in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, South Africa.

It was a fabulous afternoon, spared from the regular daily showers of blessings. The beautiful great house was complemented by conversation pieces and encouragement from the women with one intention - empowering each other.

Guest of honour Minister Nkoana-Mashabane, in her speech expressed hope that the day would come when every girl child will understand how phenomenal they are, while Scotiabank's Jacqueline Sharp revealed it was a no-brainer for her organisation to sponsor the luncheon, "We are always pleased to be part of programmes or groups that support the advancement of women," she said.

This is the second phenomenal women luncheon the bank is

sponsoring.

The IWF was founded in

the USA in 1982. Today, the

organisation boasts 5,500 members, representing 26 nations.

"IWF has brought together diverse women of high achievement, to promote better global leadership - by empowering women; exchanging ideas and developing programmes that can literally change the world," states Minna Isreal.
