The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) made a strong statement of support, fielding 85 participants in the record-breaking Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run on Sunday, February 16.

The annual event shattered expectations, raising $128 million and drawing a record 30,477 participants in its 27th staging. Surpassing its initial target of$115 million, the run has now raised over $875 million for nearly 30 charities since its inception.

Of the 85-member team which laced up to support the cause, stevedore Jevaunie Bell led the SAJ contingent with an impressive finish, clocking 22 minutes and 59 seconds to place 55th overall in the highly competitive run category.

Several SAJ members also sent teams, with participants from Kingston Wharves Limited, Seaboard Jamaica, Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited, and Maritime and Transport Services Limited, among others.

This year’s proceeds will fund critical upgrades to the Intensive Care Unit at Kingston Public Hospital, improvements at the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, and support for Father Ho Lung and Friends Foundation’s Bethlehem Home, benefiting healthcare services and vulnerable communities.
