Herb McKenley was the first Jamaican to win a medal in the men's 100 metres at the Olympic Games. McKenley captured a silver medal in the event at the 1952 Games in Helsinki, Finland. In a very close race, the first four past the line were awarded the same hand-time - 10.4 seconds.
