Williams smashes World U20 Champs record

FOLLOWING her impressive win in the 100m two days ago, Jamaica's 16-year-old sensation, Briana Williams, wrote her name in the record books at the World Under 20 Championships after winning the Women's 200m in a personal best and Championships record of 22.50 seconds.

The overseas-based Williams, who emulated the performance of Veronica Campbell-Brown when she won the sprint double in Santiago, Chile in 2000, was just too good for her rivals.

Drawn in lane three, she covered the field very quickly, coming off the curve well ahead of the field as the pre-race favourite.

Lauren Raina Williams of the United States could not do anything to cope with the Jamaican's speed and had to settle for second in 23.09 seconds, as Poland's Natyna Kotwila finished third in a National record and personal best 23.21 seconds.
