KC soar, CC stumble ... Contrasting results for defending champs in schoolboy football opener

The 2019 schoolboy football season got underway on Saturday with contrasting results for the defending urban and rural area kingpins.

At the Montego Bay Sports Complex, where the official opening of the season took place, daCosta Cup champions Clarendon College were held to a 1-1 draw by Lennon High, while Kingston College made light work of Excelsior High, with a comfortable 4-0 win. 

Kingston College are expected to face strong competition from the likes of Jamaica College (JC) and St George's College this season and one of those team - JC, also had the opportunity to flex their muscles on Saturday, with a 7-0 trashing of Jose Marti at their Old Hope road base with former Holy Trinity standout Tavar Lawrence scoring a first half hat-trick for the Blues.

Wolmer's also made light work of their opponents, beating Vauxhall 5-0 in their opener. 

In the daCosta Cup, Manchester High slammed BB Coke 5-0, McGrath surprised Dinthill 1-0, Glenmuir edged Bellefield 1-0, while Morant Bay High secured a close 2-1 win away to Robert Lightbourne.
