Following a dominant season a year ago, where they were crowned Urban Area Junior and Senior champions, along with securing the All-Island Junior and Senior titles, the Dalton Hinds-coached Gaynstead netball teams’ march to another netball sweep will continue today, as second-round action in the Inter-Secondary School Sports Association (ISSA) urban high school netball competition takes centre stage at the Leila Robinson Court.

After 10 weeks of preliminary-round action, the top teams Gaynstead and St Catherine High have separated themselves from the rest, and after dominating their peers in both the junior and senior ranks, they are hoping to extend their unbeaten run today, with both teams drawn in Zone B, where they will take on Jose Marti. The junior game is set to start at 12:30 p.m and their new-look seniors taking the court at 1:30 p.m.

After losing the likes of Latanya Wilson, Horasha Roberts and Paula Ann Burton, Gaynstead’s seniors will be severely tested this season.

Following their dominating preseason showing, St Catherine High have presented themselves as the favourites to dethrone Gaynstead and the Phyllis Thompson-coached team, who are also unbeaten in junior and senior competitions this season, will be in action in Zone A, where they will take on their parish rivals Jonathan Grant in both categories at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
