According to national defender Damion Lowe, he is closing in on the next destination of his playing career.

The 27-year-old centre back has been a free agent since May, choosing to part ways with Norwegian Club IK Start after a three-year stint.

He previously stated that he would wait on the conclusion of the 2019-20 European season, which was pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic. While not disclosing the specifics of his impending move, Lowe confirmed that an agreement is all but finalised and is awaiting his ticket to travel to his new team.

“I got some good news today (yesterday) pertaining to my travel documents in order to [join] a particular club,” Lowe told The Gleaner.

Lowe posted a highlights package on his Instagram page yesterday with the caption “What is for you will always be yours. #waitisover”, that may have hinted that he has secured a club for the upcoming season.

While saying coyly that the post was a reminder to his supporters that he had not “fallen off”, he has elected to wait until the move is official before making any announcement.

Lowe was reportedly linked to newly promoted Serie A club Benevento in August and was closing in on a move to the Italian club before the deal fell through.

INTERESTED CLUBS

In a Gleaner interview on May 20, he had indicated that clubs in six countries had indicated an interest in him, including England, Turkey, Russia and Norway but had ruled out a return to the Scandinavian region.

Should the agreement materialise, Lowe will be changing clubs for the fifth time, after starting his career with the United States in Major League Soccer with the Seattle Sounders in 2014.

Lowe is expected to play a role in the Reggae Boyz’s World Cup qualifying campaign when the final round begins next June. He has made 28 appearances for the senior team and has scored two goals in his international career.
