SHELBYVILLE, Indiana, (CMC):

Jamaican jockey Jermaine Bridgmohan wrote the headlines at Indiana Grand Race Course, riding three winners to dominate the 11-race card on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old captured the US$13,000 race two over six furlongs with favourite Naughty Alfred before following up in the $34,500 race five over a mile and 70 yards with 2-1 bet Carmella Key.

Bridgmohan then got one over Barbadian Rocco Bowen when he guided favourite Its Cold in Dehere to victory in the $32 500 race seven over six furlongs, to complete an outstanding day in the American midwest.

Bowen, who finished second in race seven with Madame Overserved, also managed a win on the day’s card in race three over a mile and 70 yards, combining with 7-1 bet Down Home Kitten to beat the three-year-olds and upward by 5-3/4 lengths.

Bridgmohan, aboard favourite Changing Lanes, finished second after chasing Down Home Kitten in the stretch.

The younger brother of Churchill Downs riding star, Shaun Bridgmohan, Jermaine has now tallied 26 wins from 149 rides in the five-month season which winds up in two weeks.

Bridgmohan struck success in his first ride of the day when he paired with three-year-old gelding Naughty Alfred to trounce the three-year-olds and upward by 3-1/4 lengths.

Naughty Alfred outsprinted Jamming Cameron through the turn to pick up the running before getting clear in the late turn to dominate the stretch run.

Bridgmohan doubled his tally with Carmella Key, carrying the three-year-old filly to a two-length victory over the three-year-old and upward Indiana-bred fillies and mares.

Five-to-one chance Justa Simple Girl produced all the early splits with Ijustwantahavefun and Dontyouremember in pursuit but Bridgmohan roused Carmella Key at the five-sixteenth, grabbed the lead at the quarter pole and took charge of the contest late on.

Bridgmohan’s final win came with the four-year-old chestnut filly Its Cold in Dehere, edging the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by half-length after catching Bowen’s Madame Overserved in the stretch.
