Magical Mayers leads WI to historic Test win over Bangladesh

Debutant Kyle Mayers hit an unbeaten 210 and quite fittingly scored the winning run as the West Indies defeated Bangladesh by three wickets on the final day of the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here Sunday.
Mayers, the 28 year-old Barbadian, helped carry the West Indies to 395 for seven, the fifth highest run chase in history and the highest by any team in Asia.
The chase was anchored by a 216 run fourth wicket partnership between Mayers and fellow Test debutant Nkrumah Bonner, who made 86.
Mayers' stunning knock included 20 fours and seven sixes in 310 balls. He became only the sixth batsman to score a double century on debut and the sixth overall to score 200 in the fourth innings.
Mehidy Miraz took 4-113 and Taijul Islam, 2-91 to finish as the best bowlers for Bangladesh in the second innings.
Bangladesh dominated much of the Test match, scoring 430 and 223 for 8 declared in their their two innings with the West Indies managing just 259 in their opening innings.
