Edwin Allen’s Tina Clayton produced a scintillating effort to capture the Girls’ Under-20 200m at the National Junior and Senior Championships at the National Stadium yesterday.

Clayton, who also won the 100m final on Thursday, completed the sprint double, cruising to victory in 23.61 seconds.

Aalliyah Francis from Rusea’s 23.78 seconds and Annalee Robinson from Vere 23.91 seconds finished second and third, respectively.

“I think it was a good race because I went out and did what my coach told me to and so I am pleased with that,” said Clayton. “I just have to continue to work hard and, hopefully, I can get a medal at the World Under-20 Championships.”

A few minutes later, St Elizabeth Technical High School’s Alicke Cranston sped to an impressive 21.00 seconds to win the boys’ equivalent ahead of Orlando Wint 21.42 and Calabar’s Mark Manley, 21.47.

Kingston College’s Vashaun Vascianna sped to a lifetime best and world-leading equalling 13.44 seconds to capture the Boys’ Under-20 110m hurdles event ahead of Rahyme Christian from Clarendon College, who clocked 13.91 seconds.

Hydel’s Kerrica Hill won the Girls’ 100m hurdles in 13.21 seconds ahead of her teammate Oneka Wilson, 13.41 seconds, and Gabrielle Matthews from The Queen’s School, 13.46 seconds.

Annalee Robinson of Vere was victorious in the Girls’ Under-20 400m in 53.26 seconds to finish ahead of Oneika McAnnuff from Hydel, 53.27 seconds and Aalliyah Francis of Rusea’s, 54.56 seconds.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Bembridge from Calabar clocked a personal best 46.09 seconds to book his spot after winning the Under-20 400m event. Tahj Hamm from Holmwood 46.59, and Malachi Johnson from Excelsior, 46.83, were next best.
