Portmore United kick-started their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over parish rivals Dunbeholden in the lone game at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence on Sunday.

Ricardo Morris (34th) and Emelio Rousseau (75th) secured the win for the Ricardo Gardner-coached team.

Portmore controlled most of the first half, showing enterprise and they took the lead in the 34th minute when Ricardo Morris' deflected free kick beat goalkeeper Damion Hyatt for the game's opening goal.

Dundeholden came out more purposeful the second half and had Portmore on the back foot for first 15 minutes. They nearly had an equaliser in the 64th minute when Nickoy Christian's effort was tipped unto the bar by goalkeeper Kemar Foster.

However, Portmore soon reclaimed control and 15 minutes from time, Rousseau unleashed a rocket from 35 yards out that gave Hyatt no chance.
