United Soccer League (USL) club Phoenix Rising announced on Wednesday that it has signed Jamaica forward Darren Mattocks.

However, his clearance to play depends on approval from USL and the United States Soccer Federation.

Mattock, 30, has spent most of his professional career in North America, and had been out of contract for more than a year before signing with Sundanese club Al-Merrikh Sporting Club in February.

He last played in the United States for Major League Soccer's (MLS) FC Cincinnati in the 2019 season. There, he scored three goals in 21 appearances.

However, he was forced to put his career on hold because of time spent in court, in the US, dealing with an insurance fraud case brought about against him.

Mattocks has made 50 appearances for Jamaica, scoring 18 goals.

He has scored 37 goals and made 14 assists in an overall MLS career spanning 182 appearances.
