EDWIN Allen High School’s Class One athlete, Bryan Levell, stole the spotlight at last Saturday’s 17th staging of the Camperdown Classics inside the National Stadium. Running against a 1.5 metres per second headwind, Levell clocked a solid 10.46 seconds to win the boys Class One 100 metres.

Levell, who was a finalist in the men’s 100 metres at last year’s National Senior Championships and who was also a semi-finalist in the 100 and 200 metres at last summer’s World Under-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, dragged Deandre Daley (10.56) of Herbert Morrison and Ricquem Graham (10.73) of Wolmer’s Boys’ to personal best times, while finishing second and third, respectively.

Former Petersfield High athlete Antonio Watson, now competing for Racers Track Club, also showed good form as he topped the field in the men’s 400 metres in 46.17 seconds. Lavanya Williams of William Knibb was second overall in 11.90. St Catherine High’s Asheria Ulett (11.94) Mickayle Gardener (11.99) of Wolmer’s Girls’ were third and fourth, respectively.

There were several good results in the 800m, with St Jago’s Alesia Douglas leading the way in Class One after winning in 2:11.07. Shone Walters (2:12.05) of St Mary High was second with Kishay Rowe of Alphansus Davis who was third with 2:12.73.
