When boxer Ricardo ‘Big 12’ Brown enters the ring tonight for his professional debut against Bolivian Julio Cabrera, in a six-round heavyweight contest in Toronto, Canada, the Jamaican will be hunting a second-round knockout.

Brown has revealed that his camp is confident of his victory and he will be taking the fight to his opponent from very early to see what he is made of.

“My camp wants a victory and I am going to give it to them. My coach says I am looking ready and from the coach says I am ready, I know I am ready. So I am going to put out all my best and get that win,” he told The Gleaner.

The 41-year-old Cabrera has a record of 14 wins and seven losses, with a defeat and a win in his last two fights.

Brown, who is 12 years Cabrera’s junior, said his intention is get a feel of what the South American has to offer in the first round and then put him to the test in round two and see if he can last.

“I am going out to take the fight to him because that is what I do, I take the fight to people.

“I will have to go out there and feel him out and see what he is really like and then get to work after.

“I would like to end the fight in the second round but it depends on the boxer. I will have to feel what he is really like in the first round and then in the second round, I will see what he is really about,” he stated.

Brown, who has been working on his jab and making improvements to his right hand, said he is ready and raring to go. Making a good impression on his young son is also one of his goals for the evening. And even if he does not get the second-round knockout he aims for, he promises his performance will be one worth watching.

“I am super ready. I have been training and resting and everything is good. Everything is ready and I am ready to go, there’s no doubt about that. I am here to perform good and make my fans happy.

“I also want my son to grow up and know his dad was a good athlete. So all I want to do right now is just to win this fight and move on.

“I am ready and prepared for this fight. I know it is going to be a good fight and the plan is to win, there’s no plan to lose,” he said.
