Travel woes turn delicate JFF balance on its head
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has found itself in the middle of a controversy, yet again.
The latest issue stems from improperly managed travel arrangements at the end of the Reggae Boyz 1-1 draw with Suriname in the opening game for the island in the Nations League A in that country on Saturday.
Reports are that the Reggae Boyz were to have boarded a chartered flight with Suriname, who are set to arrive in Jamaica at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
However, the Reggae Boyz were not allowed to board the flight because they had not paid the requisite fees.
A source close to the situation says Professional Football Jamaica Limited boss, Christopher Williams, has since, stepped in to rectify the situation.
But in the interim, a number of happenings have threatened to further derail the programme.
In one instance, it is said the players will refuse to go any further with the national programme should General Secretary, Dalton Wint, remain in office.
Wint is the man who seems to be carrying the pot for the latest instance of mismanagement from the JFF.
A leaked voice note with a recording of a discussion between a player and JFF president Michael Ricketts, suggests the latter is in agreement that Wint be sacked over the issue.
"Mr President, we need fi hear it," a person is heard saying on the voicenote
"Wah you want hear?" came the response, allegedly from the president.
"So on behalf of the team, captain, vice-captain, we are asking Mr Wint to resign. That's the only way we move forward. Can we get your word on that?" the person says in response to the query.
"I am saying I agree," was the response that allegedly came from the president.
"You agree as the president? Okay."
While all this has been going on, there is also the suggestion that interim head coach, Paul Hall, has said he will resign as well.
