Jamaica’s trio of Janieve Russell, Shiann Salmon, and Rushell Clayton are all through to the semi-finals of the Women’s 400m Hurdles at the World Athletics championships in Eugene, Oregon on Tuesday.

National champion Russell is the fastest Jamaican entering the semi-finals, clocking 54.52 to win heat two ahead of USA’s Shamier Little.

Salmon was second in Heat four, clocking 54.91. The race was won by defending champion Dalilah Muhammad, in 54.45.

Clayton, who lost her bearings late in heat five, managed to secure the final automatic qualifying spot, finishing fourth. The race was won by was USA’s Britton Wilson in 54.54.

Dutch athlete Femke Bol, leads all qualifiers with a 53.90 clocking to win heat three.

The other main qualifiers are world record holder Sydney McLaughlin (53.95), of the USA, Italy’s Ayomide Folorunso (54.69), Norway’s Amalie Iuel (54.70), Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova (54.93), and Finland’s Viivi Lehikoinen (54.95).
