OregonGoldRush | Jereem Richards Caribbean's lone representative in Men's 200m final
Jamaica will be without a representative in the final of the Men’s 200m as its lone representative, Rasheed Dwyer, finished eighth in semi-final three in 20.87 seconds.
That race was won by the United States of America's (USA) 18-year-old sensation Erriyon Knighton, who ran 19.77.
Yohan Blake, who should have featured in semi-final one, withdrew because of a swollen right foot. The race was won by the Dominican Republic's Alexander Ogando, who produced his second national record in the 200m competition, running 19.91.
USA's Noah Lyles, the defending champion, leads all qualifiers, having ran 19.63 to win semi-final three. Despite Jamaica’s absence, the Caribbean will be represented by Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards, who got in as a non-automatic qualifier, finishing third in semi-final three behind the American pair of Lyles and Bednarek.
South Africa’s Luxolo Adams, Liberia’s Joseph Fahnbulleh, and Canada’s Aaron Brown are also into the final.
