CG2022 | One victory in four matches for Jamaica in table tennis

Jamaica’s Kane Watson suffered consecutive losses, while Solesha Young had a victory and a loss on Wednesday’s opening day action of table tennis at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Watson, in his first match, went down 4-11, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 1-11 for a 4-2 defeat to Caribbean counterpart De Andre Calderon from St. Lucia.

Watson was easily dispatched 4-0 by Malaysia’s Chee Fong Leong in his second match as he lost 3-11, 8-11, 6-11, 9-11.

In the women’s singles, Young was defeated 4-0 by South Africa’s Danisha Jayavant Patel with set scores of 4-11, 4-11, 3-11, 8-11.

In her second match, Young rebounded and grabbed her first victory by defeating Kenya’s Jenny Compell Amadi 4-1 with scores of 11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8.
