The year that was, life after COVID
TOWARDS THE end of 2021 and certainly by the beginning of 2022, the majority of the various sports in Jamaica had recovered from the ravages of COVID-19.
And by the end of 2022, sport in Jamaica, as has been the case for decades, returned to its position at the top of interest.
Still, the return to normality has been painful, especially for those smaller sports where the resources are not quite there and for sports like boxing, which, as a full contact sport, almost dwindled into non-existence.
Just as interesting have been those sports where there seems to be very little happening on the face of it, but which have been doing quite a bit of groundwork that will hopefully lead to unprecedented growth come 2023.
Take the journey with The Sunday Gleaner on this New Year’s Day, as we take a look at the year that was.
