Jamaica’s Rugby Sevens team mines CAC silver

JAMAICA’S MEN’S Rugby Sevens team mined the country’s third medal at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, on in El Salvador yesterday, after losing heavily to a strong Colombia team in the final.

The Jamaicans made the final after earning some revenge against Mexico, who handed them a 14-10 defeat in their opener, recovering to thrash the same opponents 26-5 in the semifinal..

However, in the final they were to meet a Colombian team they had lost 19-12 to in the morning, and the thought may have been that the contest would have been close.

It wasn’t.

The Colombians would run out 28-7 winners to grab another gold medal at these CAC Games.

Earlier, the women, fell one place shy of a podium spot after losing 36-7 to Venezuela in the competition’s semifinal.

Jamaica has two silver, and a bronze medal and sit 12th in the medal table.

MExico lead the table with 37 gold, 37 silver, and 28 bronze medals, while Colombia are second with 33, 15 and 19.
