The Jamaican quartet of Ackeem Blake, Oblique Seville, Ryiem Forde, and Rohan Watson are through to the final of the men’s 4x100 metres at the World Athletics Championships.

The team clocked 37.68 seconds to finish just 100th of a second behind the United States quartet of Christian Coleman, Fred Kerley, Brandon Carnes and JT Smith.

Also through from what was the first heat are Japan, who clocked a season’s best 37.71 and France, who were fourth and copped one of the non-automatic qualification spots with another season’s best 37.98.

The most impressive qualifiers, though, are the Italians, who, with the help of Olympic 100-metre champion, Lamont Marcell Jacobs, ran to a world-leading 37.65.

The Italians won heat two ahead of South Africa, who had a storming anchor leg from Akani Simbine, who brought them back into second place and a time of 37.72 seconds.

Great Britain, 38.01, were the other automatic qualifiers, while Brazil earned a place as fast non-automatic qualifier with 38.19.
