FOLLOWING a distinguished high-school career in track and field, former Lacovia High athlete Sabrina Dockery will make her debut at the professional level today when she competes at the 25th staging of the G C Foster Classic at Angels, Spanish Town.

Dockery, who stormed to victory in the Class One 100 metres final last year in a personal best of 11.08 seconds before turning professional and training in the United States, will contest the first heat of the women’s 100m at 6 p.m.

Senior representatives Ashanti Moore and 400m hurdles specialist Shiann Salmon of SprinTec will contest the women’s 400 metres.

A good battle is expected in the men’s 100m, heat five, which will include the SprinTec duo of Kadrian Goldson and Odaine McPherson, Javari Thomas of Dynamic Speed Track Club and Rasheed Foster of The Mico University College.

Today’s meet will be a crucial one for athletes hoping to compete at the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships, as it will be their last chance to attain qualifying standards.

The meet will begin at 8:45 a.m. with the 2000m steeplechase open and will feature the likes of Obinne Reid of Clarendon College, Christopher Anderson of Kingston College, and Shakeem Francis of Calabar High.

After his history-making feat for Denbigh High at the Carifta Trials, when he became the first athlete from the Clarendon-based school to book a Carifta Games ticket, Markland Williams, the event leader in the Class Two 800m with 1:55.02, will be hoping to continue his excellent form going into Champs when he contests the event today.

A good contest is also expected in the Class One 800m for girls which will involve Horecia Love of Edwin Allen, Florence Nafamba of Holmwood Technical High School, Denae Hodge of Sydney Pagon High School, and Kededra Coombs of St Jago High School.
