Champs 2026 | KC’s Nahashon Ruto leads Class One 1500m field into final
Kingston College’s (KC) Nahashon Ruto cruised into the final of the boys’ Class One 1500m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
Ruto leads all qualifiers into the final after winning his heat in 4:07.97.
Joel Morgan, who finished second behind Ruto, holds the second-fastest qualifying time of 4:07.98 heading into tomorrow’s final.
Calabar’s Justin Webb (4:09.22), Bellfield’s Roquelme Johnson (4:10.16), Raheem Palmer of Alphansus Davis (4:10.82), Jamaica College’s Carlos Brinson-Cannes (4:11.03), and Lerone Stewart of Holmwood (4:11.06) are among the other top qualifiers.
Jamaica College’s Cavel Nooks clocked 4:16.42 to lead all qualifiers into the final of the boys’ Class Two 1500m.
Nooks, who is highly favoured to win the event, will be joined in the final by Excelsior’s Keniel Daniels (4:17.75), Luke Plummer of Sydney Pagon (4:16.51), Jevaunghn Tomlin of Bellfield (4:16.67), Oraine Lyle of Marcus Garvey (4:18.03), Marland Williams of Denbigh (4:17.36), KC’s Jelani Brown (4:18.06), and JC’s Devin Davey (4:18.67).
In Class Three, KC’s Julius Itubo stamped his class on the field to comfortably win his heat. Itubo, the favourite to win the event, clocked 4:15.25 to lead all qualifiers into tomorrow’s final.
He will be joined by Jamaica College’s Rickardo Lee (4:19.73) and Ajovi Williams (4:31.60), Holmwood’s Joshua Pryce (4:31.62), Calabar’s Tavion Taylor (4:36.13), and Hydel’s Shanore Welch (4:34.41).
