Suspect in Edwards' shooting killed
HE RAN and eluded the police dragnet Monday afternoon, but could not escape the network of the criminal underworld, who hunted and killed him yesterday. The police said the deceased, Andrew Isaacs, was one of two suspects impli-cated in the shooting of popular dancehall artiste Oneil Edwards, of the group Voicemail.
According to the police, Isaacs' body was discovered in the Plantation Heights area of St Andrew yesterday.
"We believed he was killed by men from a nearby community. We suspect this could be in reprisal for the shooting of Edwards," said Deputy Superintendent Michael Phipps, the Area 4 crime officer.
The entertainer was shot and critically injured early Monday morning, while attempting to enter his house in Duhaney Park, St Andrew.
Reports are that he was shot multiple times and has since been hospitalised. Preliminary investigation has suggested that the motive could be robbery, as the artiste's cellphone was recovered from the deceased.
