Rollins gets Republican nod

WESTERN BUREAU:Rose Hall Development Limited's chairman, Michele Rollins, displaced two of her Republican counterparts to win her party's nomination for Delaware's only seat in the United States House of Representatives yesterday.
The reputed businesswoman and attorney, one of Jamaica's longest tourism investors, scored a victory that saw her taking home 68 per cent of the votes at the GOP state convention in Rehoboth Convention Centre in Delaware.
"I did this because I love my country, and did not like the direction it was going in. Free enterprise system is at risk, the health-care bill puts 28 per cent of our country's budget in Federal hands, every piece of regulation that is being enacted is being placed in control of the Federal Government's hand," she told The Sunday Gleaner from her home in Delaware yesterday.
