Second NCU team in Cup finals

A second Microsoft Imagine Cup team from Northern Caribbean University (NCU) is through to the world finals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition.

Team Xormis' dream of representing the region was deferred after it placed second in the finals behind another NCU team - Team Educ8 (winner of the regional finals in the Software Development category). However, the Imagine Cup Competition has five other award categories in which teams can compete. One of these is the Interoperability Award for which Team Xormis is a finalist.

The world finals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition run from July 3-7 in Warsaw, Poland.

More delighted

"The university administration is even more delighted with the Computer and Information Sciences Department," said Dr Herbert Thompson, president of NCU. "This is a historic milestone for the region as this is the first time that we have had two teams in the world finals."

Team Xormis comprises Shawn McLean, Dwayne Samuels, Derron Brown and Markel Mairs. They will clash with the teams from Brazil and Indonesia for the Imagine Cup World Interoperability Award.

The Interoperability Award is designed to recognise the software application that best leverages out-of-the-box Microsoft technologies and blends them with other technologies to connect people, data, or diverse systems in a new way.
