Kay Osborne elected to Commonwealth committee
Kay Osborne, general manager of Television Jamaica and Television Jamaica Sports Network, has been elected to the executive committee of the Commonwealth Broadcasters Association (CBA) by the delegates attending the recent CBA 2010 General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Founded in 1945, the CBA is an association of more than 100 member organisations in 47 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia, the Pacific, the Carib-bean and North and South America. Member organisations include the British Broadcasting Corporation, Australian Broad-casting Corporation, Voice of Nigeria and South African Broad-casting Corporation.
The 13-member CBA executive committee manages the businessof the association, including developing strategic plans that further the purposes for which the association was established. The CBA's main aim is to promote the education and training of individuals in Commonwealth countries around the world in broadcasting skills and ethics. The CBA's pan-Commonwealth con-ference is held every two years and runs strong technical sessions alongside editorial and managerial sessions. The next pan-Common-wealth conference will be held in Australia in 2012.
