Drug for allergy launched
sanofi-aventis recently launched Allegra Pediatric Oral Suspension in Jamaica. The product is one of a portfolio of drugs for children from the sanofi-aventis pediatrics laboratory. Allegra Pediatric is used in the treatment of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis in children two to 11 years of age, and in the treatment of urticaria (hives) in children six months to 11 years of age.
A raspberry-flavoured, quick acting, second-generation antihistamine, characterised by its non-sedative effect on patients, Allegra Pediatric also has an anti-inflammatory effect. The oral suspension drug has proven efficacy, safety and tolerability in children and has been approved for use, when prescribed by a doctor after consultation and physical examination.

New Panadol Advance
A new formula of Panadol, Panadol Advance, was recently launched in Kingston. Panadol Advance contains acetaminophen 500mg, an effective painkiller and Optizorb, the exclusive formulation for quick absorption of the product's painkilling agent. Information from GlaxoSmithKline indicates that the new formula disperses five times faster than regular acetaminophen and goes into the bloodstream faster than regular acetaminophen. GlaxoSmithKline indicates that Panadol Advance gives the same reliability of Panadol but now with a more advanced formula.
