Wanted man among curfew detainees

Nearly 200 mates - including a man on the police most-wanted list - were detained yesterday in a curfew in west Kingston, the constabulary said.

The wanted man - whose name the police have not revealed - is expected to be charged later today, the cops said.

The Police High Command reported that of the 191 persons taken into custody, 35 have been processed, interviewed and released.

The curfew, which was activated at 4 a.m. yesterday, will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The boundaries of the curfew are: north along Asquith Street and Seventh Street, between Minstrel Street and Collie Smith Drive; south along Third Street, between Collie Smith Drive and Minstrel Street; east along Minstrel Street, between Third Street and Asquith Street; and west along Collie Smith Drive, between Third Street and Seventh Street.

In the meantime, the police have listed five persons who they say are of major interest. They are: Dwight Turner, alias 'Nose'; Ian Tyrell, otherwise called 'Bulla Head'; Lawrence Stewart, a.k.a. Ritchie; a.k.a. 'O'Neil'; Ernestico Campbell, alias 'Marlon Brando', and Wayne Martin, otherwise called 'Houdini'.

These five persons are asked to surrender at the nearest police station.
