L.P. Azar Limited has expanded its operations at Marescaux Road, and is now finalising a deal with fabric retailer Pablos, but the company, run by Phillip Azar, is not saying the exact nature of the arrangement, only that negotiations remain at a delicate stage.
The alliance of the two operations is being described as a partnership, but the ownership structure likely to emerge has not been disclosed.
Rosa Josephs said, however, that she remains managing director of Pablos, which has three stores across Jamaica.
The company began as Pablo Joseph Limited and was renamed Pablos when Rosa acquired full ownership back in 1982, following a separation from her husband, Paul Joseph, who founded the company.
The alliance with L.P. Azar is expected to give Pablos increased access to stock, and provide L.P. Azar with a wider retail presence.
The Azars' expansion of the Maresceaux Road operation increased display and storage space by 50 per cent, according to advertisements run by L.P. Azar.
The company is also increasing spend on marketing to advertise new inventory, including supplies for local hotels.
