Bog Walk massacre suspect held
THE PRIME suspect in last Thursday's slaying of four people in Pleasant Hill, St Catherine, has been captured by the police.
Commanding officer for St Catherine, Superintendent Assan Thompson, said investigators also have the names of two more suspects and would make them public today if they were not held overnight.
Thompson said the alleged ringleader, who was taken into custody yesterday, would be questioned today in the presence of his attorney before he is formally charged.
Investigators have not esta-blished a clear motive for the murders of Waymon Williams, 40; his common-law wife, Audrey Thomas, 41; Keneil McForka, 19; and visiting family friend, Shereka Clarke, 21.
Yesterday, a fifth person injured in the attack remained hospitalised.
The four were shot dead after heavily armed gunmen invaded their home and opened fire.
Thompson said the investiga-tion's early successes came after the police, backed by the military, conducted a series of operations across the parish on Saturday night "to track down those who were fingered in the killing".
He said the investigations were progressing smoothly and sought to reassure residents of Linstead and Bog Walk that the police were doing everything to rid their communities of criminals.
"In spite of the challenges we have experienced over the past four days, we remain steadfast in our mission to make that area the safer part of the division," he told The Gleaner yesterday.
He also urged residents from both communities to give the police their full support.
