Leadership crisis
The Editor, Sir:
Please help me resolve the following question: Our legal experts and constitutional lawyers should have the answer.
Can the people of this country, who are fully aware of the seriousness of the crime situation and the dire consequences if it is not controlled, declare an emergency of leadership?
It is clear that those whom we have elected and who now enjoy the salaries and perks, including round-the-clock protection, have no care for us who pay for those privileges. They obviously are not listening to what the majority of us are saying.
We should be rejoicing and thanking God for those lives that were saved because of the operations of the security forces since May 23.
Raising storms
Instead, we are raising storms over a relatively few persons who are temporarily inconvenienced about their rights while they are still alive, and not calculating how many of them could have lost that most basic right to life had the security forces not been empowered to act in this very first real assault on the problem.
Instead of the barrage of talk and plans and proposals to which we have been exposed over the years, action has been taken with gratifying results.
And our leaders are unable to see that!
I am, etc.,
