A SUSPECT in the slaying of Clive 'Jexter' Virgo, special constable of the May Pen police, and prominent businessman Dwight Johnson, was killed, along with another unidentified male, during a police operation yesterday.

Another man was killed and Constable Davian Lindsay was shot in the right arm during the operation.

The deaths took place during what the police contend was a shoot-out in Parker Beach, Clarendon.

The police said they seized a firearm when the dust settled after the alleged gun battle.

The dead man, Milton Lewis, who went by the aliases 'Forty-five' and 'Askel', was ranked highly on the May Pen police's most-wanted list after the January 17 shooting of Virgo.

Lewis was shot around 12 midday yesterday. The police said intelligence led them to the area and, on approaching the house in which Lewis was hiding, the wanted man and two others engaged them.

One man was reported to have fled the area and is currently being pursued by the May Pen police.

In its release yesterday afternoon, the Constabulary Communication Network would only state that the matter was under probe by the Bureau of Special Investigations - the special arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force that investigates police killings.
