After acting in the post for more than six months, Glenmore Hinds has been promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner of police.
Hinds, then an assistant commissioner of police, was selected to act as a deputy commissioner in November 2009 and given the operations portfolio.
Having led numerous anti-crime operations over the period, Hinds was promoted on July 1, but the official announcement came only yesterday.
Hinds, who has been a member of the police force for the last 35 years, will retain his role in charge of operations.
He joins Jevene Bent and Charles Scarlett as the deputies to Police Commissioner Owen Ellington.
