Global Gateways expands
Global Gateways Solutions, provider of back-office customer service and collections services is adding 100 workers to service expanded contracts.
Operations manager O'Neil Brown, said the call centre company which started with 15 workers and one client contract in 2009, has been expanding steadily since January with a total of five contracts in the field of collections, telecommunications, tourism travel and leisure and health benefits in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Jamaica.
The company said it provides services for one local company - telecommunications firm LIME.
The new recruits will grow the staff to 280, inclusive of 258 agents.
Collections contract
The ongoing expansion, Brown said, is due to Global Gateways Solutions landing a collections contract for one company which, pleased by performance since the start of the year, has outsourced the entire programme to the Montego Bay Free Zone based call centre.
"The clients are happy. They have allowed us to take over," said Brown, adding that Global in Jamaica was having a good year, having managed to keep payroll expenditures to 20 per cent of revenue and the attrition rate below one per cent in a sector known for high staff turnover.
Breaking even
"We are breaking even now because of the ongoing expansion. The company here is not yet profitable, but the payroll to revenue ratio is good."
The parent operation located in Florida points out on its website that employee costs in the Caribbean are 40-60 per cent cheaper than in the United States and Canada, as a selling point for locating business in the region.
Global Gateway Solutions Inc is a private company incorporated in Florida in 2007, and majority owned by president Jacqueline Sutherland.
Global names Montego Bay as its operational headquarters, and Florida as its corporate base.
Global remains in expansion mode and is currently seeking out more local clients, Brown said.
