PNP not satisfied
The Opposition People's National Party (PNP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the Govern-ment's response to the latest disclosures on the Manatt, Phelps & Phillips (MPP) matter.
According to the PNP, the Government appears to be saying it has said all that it has to say and nothing more.
"The statement from the Government has made no effort to explain how it is, from as far back as September 2009, officials of the State in their official capacities, including the solicitor general, who is a civil servant, were continuously involved in briefing, consulting and advising officials of MPP, when they were purportedly acting on behalf of the JLP, as the prime minister claims, and not the Government of Jamaica," the PNP said.
"This is indeed an unfortunate stance and is reflective of the general contempt and disrespect that has been displayed by the administration of the JLP from the very outset when this matter was first raised in the Parliament," added the Opposition.
The PNP said the Government is still to explain how it is that the JLP, a political party, was involved in what was clearly, on the face of it, a matter of State involving the Government of Jamaica and involving, at every level, officials of the Government.
