Months into his new job as marketing manager, Joseph Oates has left Claro Jamaica to pursue personal business interests, the company confirmed Wednesday through its publicists.

He will be replaced September 1 by Latoy Williams, whose title will be media manager.

Oates, who worked with Claro for five months, said he has forged a partnership with Delon Reid of Brownstone Entertainment to start his own consultancy firm, Brownstone Marketing.

"My time at Claro was wonderful," he told the Financial Gleaner on Wednesday.

"I had a great time working at Claro, which made it a bittersweet departure, (but) an opportunity presented itself and I have taken the chance to venture out on my own."

Oates was an assistant brand manager for Guinness before he moved to Claro.

His transition comes earlier than previously intimated in a Flair interview earlier this year, in which he said his move into his own business was a 10-year plan.

Brownstone, he said Wednesday, would focus on brand development, consumer aware-ness, and sales techniques.

Oates is the company's chief executive officer.
