Good move by cops

The Editor, Sir:

I would like to congratulate the police on the crackdown on the windshield wipers. This is long overdue. This is not employment; it is extortion by terrorising primarily our female drivers in the city.

I have personally had to exit my vehicle to defend women at the Devon House/Hope Road intersection. But among the worst, of course, are the groups at Three Miles and Half-Way Tree. Why is that only men are there doing this while the women are busy trying to sell fruit, etc? If we really want to help these men we should encourage them into some sort of skills training or be given a start in some sort of legal entrepreneurial activity.

I would hope that the police move now to remove the persons downtown and New Kingston who want to charge you for parking on the roadway and all the other illegal activities.

I am, etc.,

HUGH CAMPBELL
